Working on a smile makeover case can be stressful. What if the patient doesn’t like the shape, texture, and characterization of their veneers? A diagnostic wax-up is an excellent way to help your patients see how their veneers/crowns will look in the end, before even starting preparing for the final restorations.
A wax-up allows the patient to see a 3-dimensional view of what their final veneers will actually look like; and the best part? If they don’t like it the first time, it is much easier to change or adjust than final restorations. It also helps you, the dentist, gain a visual understanding of what is needed in regards to tooth reduction requirements.
Our diagnostic wax-ups are always accompanied with a sil-tech matrix, perfectly designed to make the temporaries look exactly like the wax-up. A preparation guide is also included, specifically designed to help determine how much reduction is necessary in order to gain the best result possible.
Check out these before and after photos of a diagnostic wax-up that we recently completed. The difference is amazingly beautiful!
